He served our country honorably in the U.S. Navy Seabee in Okinawa, Japan during WWII. John was united in marriage to his beautiful wife, Doris Lena Laesser, on June 7, 1947 in Toledo, Ohio. The couple made their home in Harper Woods and was blessed with two cherished children of whom the loved and adored. John started a career as the Supervisor for International Milling Company and retired from Ford Motor Company in 1985. After John's retirement, the couple moved to their lovely cottage in Combermere, Ontario. When the grandboy's were born, they wanted to spend time with them, so they moved back to Macomb Township in 1991. John loved all kids, and especially enjoyed sharing in the company of his grandsons; he was a proud Papa. He was known to most as "Jolly John" for he was a fun, happy man who never met a stranger. John will be deeply missed and will always be known for his sense of humor and his laughter. His light will continue to shine in our hearts forever.
John is the devoted husband of the late Doris; cherished father of Shirley and the late John Wayne; proud papa of Steven (Morgan) and the late Ryan Rutherford; dear great grandfather of Levi and one on the way; beloved brother of the late Louise Jaroszynski and Shirley Carnago.
